Dear Reader ,
Welcome to the second edition of MeetEngland’s e-news.
We hope you found the first edition useful and have managed to incorporate some of the venue and destination ideas into your event programmes.
England continues to offer excellent value for money and has now become one of the most competitive destinations in Western Europe.
The British pound remains weak against the US Dollar and Euro and access to England’s many international airports is more affordable than ever.
In this festive edition we offer more great destination and venue tips, a quick guide to some of England’s leading International Conference Centre facilities and an insight into the "sport of kings", horseracing.
We hope you will enjoy this second edition. If you have any ideas or questions please do get in touch: simon.gidman@visitengland.org
It remains for me to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Conference Cities - A wealth of choice
|
|
In England we pride ourselves on the number of spectacular city destinations on offer. Substantial investment in our leading cities in recent years have transformed them into vibrant business and cultural centres.
Former centres of industry, such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and NewcastleGateshead, are now recognized as leading lights of entertainment, cuisine and shopping. In turn they are attracting more business investment and more international association, governmental and corporate events.
Some of Europe’s leading conference centres can be found in these cities. Here are some of the main centres:
Birmingham – ICC Birmingham
Manchester - Manchester Central
Liverpool - Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool
London - London ExCel
Brighton - The Brighton Centre

Liverpool – Full Of Life

Liverpool, with its UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront, stylish venues, chic hotels, exciting attractions, fantastic shopping and headline events, just has to be experienced first-hand.
Readers of travel bible, Condé Nast Traveller, have voted Liverpool as their third favourite city destination in the UK for the second year running, behind only capital cities London and Edinburgh – a huge accolade for the city to retain its ranking.

Horseracing - The Sport of Kings

In the current climate entertaining clients and motivating staff needs to be highly effective and represent exceptional value for money.
One of the most popular "English" days out is a day at the races. With 52 courses across England and racing 360 days a year, there is plenty of choice. Racing also provides a great social experience that can be enjoyed by all.
Leading racing festivals include the Cheltenham National Hunt Festival (March), The Grand National at Aintree (April), Royal Ascot (June) and Glorious Goodwood (July).
